Andrei Noda is a tall and solitary figure in the Russian-speaking world of
art. The existential condition of man is the key theme in all the work of
Andrei Noda, and quite often, the personages depicted by Noda’s work
resemble the graceful iconic figures of Giacometti. To Noda, the human
condition is, however, more akin to a comedy than a tragedy. Humour and
ironic self-reflection are characteristic of Noda's pictures, and the comical
aspects of the human condition are accentuated with bold and surprising
choices of colour.
